Our Church History
Ours is a long and rich history of meeting the needs of people seeking to deepen their love and service to God and one another. We were organized 130 years ago by a group of people with deep religious beliefs and a strong desire to build a place for Christian Fellowship, over the years the Fellowship grew, and Chestnut Grove Chapel was organized in Street, Maryland. For many years the congregation was connected with other churches to create a sustainable presence in the community. Under the effective leadership of pastors and dedicated support of members the church flourished.
In 1985 each congregation established unique identities and areas of ministries. Since then, Chestnut Grove has continued to build upon its history by serving the community and surrounding area.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit and faithful pastors and members, the church has impacted the community through ministries such as: a food pantry, discipleship ministries, music ministries, women’s development ministries, visitation ministries, nursing home ministries, and community referral services.
The church serves the community through weekly worship services, Church School, Bible study, and prayer meetings. The outreach ministries are touching lives in the community to meet the needs of children, youth, homeless and older persons.
To God be the glory the great things He has done!
